Mike Scott

Mike is co-founder of Bushfire Prone Planning and has over 45 years’ experience in rural and town site bushfire and emergency management operations, mines and renewable energy risk planning and was a Level 3 Incident Controller with DFES.
For 15 years he was an employee of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES). During this time Mike instigated, developed and managed the State’s bushfire risk mitigation portfolio and co-authored numbers of projects. These included the State’s Bushfire Mitigation Framework, Tenure Blind Bushfire Risk Management Plans and the Bushfire Risk Management database and mapping system.
Seconded to Department of Premier and Cabinet as the subject matter expert on developing bushfire risk management for the State of Western Australia.
Qualifications
Mike holds a Graduate Diploma in Bushfire Protection and is a BPAD Level 3 Accredited Bushfire Practitioner, Bush Fire Behaviour Analyst, Diploma in Fire Fighting, Prescribed Burning, Diploma Forestry and Forestry Products, Fire Investigation.
