City of Karratha BRMP

BPP have completed an exciting new phase of work which builds upon a wealth of bushfire experience within the team, with the completion of the City of Karratha Bushfire Risk Management Plan. BPP were engaged by the City to review and update the BRM Plan in line with the DFES Guidelines for Preparing a Bushfire Risk Management Plan.

This involved

  • An intensive period of field work identifying and assessing assets which may be exposed to bushfire risk
  • Describing the context of bushfire in the City of Karratha within the Bushfire Risk Management Plan
  • Using the DFES Bushfire Risk Management System (BRMS) to record assets and treatments to identify areas of bushfire risk
  • Engaging with stakeholders to identify assets and current or planned treatments
  • Developing recommended treatment plans and recording existing treatment programs
  • Liaising with multiple agencies including DFES, other government and industry to understand and promote bushfire responsibilities

Although a new project for the company the extensive networks developed by the team over years of working in a range of fire management roles was integral in understanding bushfire risk management and the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in different regions. With final stages of endorsement now in progress, the plan when released will provide strategic overview of bushfire risk in the City of Karratha for the foreseeable future.
