Site Specific Bushfire Assessment – Residential

Client

Hyder Constructions

Our team prepared a site-specific bushfire assessment for a residential renovation in Nerang, Queensland. The assessment evaluated vegetation, slope, and surrounding bushfire hazards to determine the applicable Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) for the site. The report supported the development approval process and provided clear guidance on vegetation clearing and construction requirements to ensure compliance with Queensland bushfire planning and building standards.

Our Scope

Our involvement included:

  • Evaluation of existing dwelling clearing regulations for the purpose of bushfire mitigation and management
  • Detailed Bushfire Attack Level Assessment for the existing dwelling and assessment of requirements for an extension application
  • Provided advice on the required Asset Protection Zone and management of vegetation within the APZ
  • Advised on a necessary dedicated water supply for firefighting purposes in an area not connected to reticulated water (tank water)

The property required updated vegetation management advice that finds a balance between protected Koala Habitat Areas and local council biodiversity values, with bushfire protection.  We addressed the bushfire risk to life and property and provided additional advice on how to access resources for a personal bushfire emergency plan.Â
