Overview
Bushfire Prone Planning was commissioned to prepare Bushfire Management Plan’s (BMP) to support the subdivision application for Precinct FP5 within the Sienna Wood Estate in Hilbert, Western Australia.
The project forms part of a larger master planned community that continues to expand across the region.

Challenge
The site is located within a bushfire-prone area, requiring the subdivision to demonstrate compliance with Western Australian bushfire planning policy and statutory requirements.
The precinct adjoins a Conservation Category Wetland (CCW), where environmental and revegetation objectives needed to be maintained without increasing bushfire risk.
Balancing environmental sensitivity with bushfire safety was a key challenge for the project team.
Approach
Bushfire Prone Planning was engaged during the subdivision design and planning phase, allowing close collaboration with project consultants and landscape architects to embed bushfire risk management into the design.
Our involvement included:
- Compliance support with state bushfire planning requirements
- Strategic bushfire planning advice during concept design
- Landscape design input and plant species selection
- Fuel load reduction through appropriate landscaping
Outcome
Through integrated planning and collaboration, the project achieved compliance with Western Australian bushfire planning requirements while maintaining the broader estate vision.
