Bushfire Risk Assessment and Treatment Planning

At Bushfire Prone Planning, we specialise in delivering bushfire risk assessments and treatment plans that support long term resilience, risk reduction, and operational readiness across a range of land use contexts.

Our assessments are underpinned by technical expertise, bushfire behaviour knowledge, and alignment with internationally recognised frameworks — including the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) methodology. We also undertake assessments in accordance with the Country Fire Authoritie’s (CFA’s) Renewable Energy Facility Guidelines, supporting renewable energy projects to meet bushfire planning requirements.

Our Bushfire risk assessment and treatment planning offers a clear, practical framework for managing bushfire risk supporting planning approvals, insurance requirements, and broader land use decision making.

Our services include:

Bushfire Risk Assessments

We carry out systematic, context sensitive assessments that evaluate bushfire hazards, threats, exposure, and vulnerability. Using a risk based approach consistent with UNDRR principles, we help clients quantify risk and prioritise mitigation efforts in line with local and landscape fire behaviour, fuel dynamics, and asset protection needs.

Bushfire Treatment Planning

Treatment strategies are practical, prioritised, and implementation ready. We recommend targeted mitigation measures such as fuel management and vegetation separation, vehivle access improvements, firebreak rationalisation and building and construction improvements tailored to your operational and environmental constraints. Plans are supported by clear mapping, prioritisation, and defined objectives.

Integrated, Landscape-Aware Approach

We ensure bushfire risk is addressed as part of broader land management or planning outcomes. Our advice is shaped by the local context, including land tenure, ecological values, existing fire regimes, and surrounding landscape scale hazards.

Aligned with International Best Practice

All plans are structured in line with the risk reduction framework of UNDRR, ensuring your planning is robust, defensible, and consistent with globally accepted disaster risk management principles. We support local governments, land managers, infrastructure providers, and developers in aligning their mitigation strategies with broader planning objectives.

CFA Renewable Energy Facility Assessments

For solar farms, wind energy, and battery storage projects we prepare an assessment against the CFA Design Guidelines and Model Requirements for Renewable Energy Facilities. These assessments address facility layout and design, access and egress, water supply, Asset Protection Zones and emergency management and response planning.

We hold BPAD Level 1, 2, and 3 Accreditations, enabling us to deliver assessments that meet the highest standards of compliance and credibility.
