Ann Smithson is an ecologist and botanist with 20 years experience. She has a degree in Biological Sciences specialising in ecology, and a doctorate in plant and animal ecology. With a Level 1 BPAD Accreditation, Ann is well-placed to assist with the integration of bushfire risk management with environmental impact assessments.

Release of the Guidlines for Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas Version 1.2

Version 1.2 was released in August 2017. The changes within this version are effective immediately and all planning proposals and applications where SPP 3.7 applies should be assessed against the updated criteria within reason.

Clearer definitions provided on what constitutes a vulnerable land use and the information required to be provided in an emergency evacuation plan.
Appendix Two – Bushfire Hazard Level assessment amended to include an updated assessment methodology.
Appendix three – BAL Contour Map amended to include an updated assessment methodology.
