Mike Scott (Bushfire Prone Planning Director) and Sean Winter (Bushfire Consultant) have been been recognised for there training efforts in the latest edition of the WALGA “Enviro News” Issue 4 – April 2017 Newsletter.

Below is an excerpt from the newsletter – April 2017

The training was offered in two formats: a one day course for those most interested in understanding the principles of fire behaviour, fire risk management and fuel assessment methodology; and a two day training course which built on the one day course by adding a day in the field where participants undertook practical fuel load assessments in a range of vegetation associations.

A total of 43 officers attended the two courses which were run in March. Officers from all six South West Group member Councils (Cities of Cockburn, Kwinana, Fremantle, Melville and Rockingham and the Town of East Fremantle) attended the training and spare places were offered to neighbouring Councils and to State Government agencies actively managing land within the region. This saw Officers from the City of Armadale, Department of Planning, Department of Lands and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group also attend.

Mike and Sean said participants provided positive feedback on the content and presentation of the Course.
